Waipahu High School is a public secondary school catering students from all walks of life. It offers Grade 9 to Grade 12 education to students of Hawaii. Waipahu High has more than 2,300 students with an excellent 18.5 student/teacher ratio. The school was founded in 1938 and is currently located at Farrington Highway in the town of Waipahu, in the island of O’ahu, Hawaii.
The school made it as a mission to prepare the students to be successful in the new millennium. In line with this, the institution has designed programs to provide the students learning opportunities that promote their physical, emotional and academic growth. The school believes that every student is important and that every one of them should have the opportunity to learn. To achieve this, the school is working closely with the community to provide a healthier environment for overall development of the students.
Waipahu High School has traditions that make it distinct among other schools. Famous of these traditions is the Arthur Awards, the school’s highlight of activities every school year. This activity promotes unity, camaraderie and friendship among the students. Aside from the Arthur Award, there is also the Cane Knife, a traditional football competition with Waipahu’s rival, Campbell High School. However, this has already stopped since Campbell’s elevation to the Division I level.
