The University of Hawaii at Manoa Laboratory School, more popularly known as the University Laboratory School, is part of the University of Hawaii system. It is run by the University’s Curriculum Research and Development Program. It was established under an agreement with the Local School Board of the education Laboratory.
The University Laboratory School was established as a model school design that provides comprehensive education to all students. It serves 420 students from Kindergarten to Grade 12, selected by lottery with equal number of male an female students from every sector in Hawaii, encompassing all income levels and socioeconomic classes.
The institution is the only one of its kind in the state with an aim of supporting research and development in education and the propagation of educational materials and resources. In real terms, the University Laboratory School is a big laboratory serving the Curriculum and research Development. The CRDG’s programs and curriculum is tested at this school.
The University Laboratory School is a research school aimed at developing new techniques and method in education and the formulation of new curriculum for the University. Surely, the students who were admitted at the University Laboratory School can proudly say they belong to a different class.
