Our Redeemer Lutheran School is a private, co-educational school offering classes for grades kindergarten through Grade 8. Located in Honolulu, Hawaii, it serves close to 200 students.
The school was established in 1949 when kindergarten through Grade 2 classes were opened. The school expanded until a high school was established in 1971.
This school integrates the church’s teachings in the regular curriculum as it motto states: “Connecting children with Jesus in a nurturing and challenging academic environment.”
From kindergarten through the 8th grade, it implements the Core Knowledge Curriculum and a phonics-based reading program for the lower grades. Electives are also offered as well as sports activities and other academic competitions to engage the students in extra-curricular activities. Students also attend regular religion education and weekly church services.
Member children of the church are provided a discount of 50% on their tuition fee. The school employs more than ten classroom teachers making up a student-teacher ratio of 1:15.
It is a member of the National Association of Independent Schools and is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. Its religious affiliation is the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.
