The Koko Head Elementary School is a public school originally built in 1954 and continued to be part of the Kaiser School Complex in the Hawaii Kai area. Koko Head Elementary School accepts kindergarten students to fifth grade students with an additional section for special education students. The student to teacher ration is one teacher to 20 to 29 students only. The special education classes follow a different and more specialized curriculum especially developed for the academically gifted and talented students. Also, the Koko Head Elementary School has a wheelchair preschool room which accommodates children with various kinds of disabilities. Students of Koko head all come from the Honolulu district.
Koko Head Elementary School is known for its fun, caring and warm environment as well as for academic excellence. The diversity within the school encourages values of respect, care and teamwork for all its students. Currently, Koko Head has roughly around 296 students.
Koko Head is proud to have its own library which is fully equipped with online and offline resources useful to all students, teachers, and even parents. Koko Head Elementary School is also proud of its culture of parent participation and role in their children’s development and in the community. Activities for parents such as recycling and environment care, School Nights, and Parent Child Breakfast are only few of the fun and interactive activities students and parents can participate in.
